its been an incredibly busy few days. we went to the secondary school and primary school for 2 days where we obsved classes. we basically stood up, in troduced myslef, then got asked questions, most of which from the primaryy school atleast consisted of "what is your favourite colour" and "how old are you" bless them.
i think we start teaching properly next week maybe which makes me nervouse. one of use will get the older kids for a term and on will get the younger. i feal that fleur has bagsied the younger ones. damn her. lol
then our host has taken us out for a few meals and we both finally found a noodle place that we both like! it tastes so so good and you can get a non spicy version which is even better. thay put so much pice into everything!! we had papaya salad today and one of the students tasted it and said "no spicy" althouugh as soon ias i put it in my muth it went on fire! and they couldnt even taste the spice. its unblivable and unfortunately, until i get used to it, really restricts what i can eat.
anyway, we moved into the house yesterdaty. oh wait i'll start from the beginning of the day. first we woke up and went to the saturday marke at 10 which was amazing and huge. it was at the tessoban (i dont know how to describve the tessoban so i'll leave it at that) . there was lots of stalls selling clothes, shoes, accessories, electricakl things, and baby turtles. you could also buy chicks which had been wonderfully died brights yellows and pinks and greens which made them so appealing that we really wanted to buy some lol. there was als s snake show where they basically aggravated the snakes until they tries to bite the guy. then we discovered the beauty of TESXCO LOTUS!! its only a few hundred metres down the road but had absolutely no iea it exsisted. there was even broccoli and carrots. oh i loved the sight of broccolli and carrots. they had pretty much everything you could want. even mr muscle! and nutella! and frosties! so it was great. i think i found my new favourite shop.
after that we moved into our new house. the people here have a different set of boundries. once all our stuff was moved in, a british person would then usually leave unless asked for a cup of tea or something. but the tais pulled coconuts from our trees and drank tand ate themm, giving us a try and sat around talking for over an hour before they left. this is sometimes good but when you are hot, seweaty an really wnat to unpack not so much.
anyway, the house. basically its a big living roomm. there are technically three toilets/shower rooms. but one doesnt work and the other is still covered in cob webs and until i can be bothered to clean i out we only have one. there iare two bedrooms and a storage roome. then there is a kitheny thing with a firridge. then out the back (which is half inside and half outside) with a washing amchine and sink and that where we do most of the cooking i think. its wonderful. no air conditionign but two fans.
then we went back to our host families house for a party :) it was really nice. they poot these low bamboo ish type table outside kind of on the road and put lots and lots of food on top. thai food is kind of like tapas. excepty the dishes are bigger. you basically just eat however much you want from all the dishes. they invited all the neighboursm, a few of the students turned up, some people from the tessoban , iour host (obv) and it was really nice. then they had this kind of ceremony thing. we sat on the seats inside the house and everyone came up to us and tied a piece of white string round our wrists and wished us good luck and happiness for the next year. however, as not amnmy of them spoke english they would pretty much tie the string while saying "happy" over and over again. but it was still very very nice. i even felt a flutter of emotion. so then we returned to out beautiful house to spend the first night on our own. it was wonderful. alkthough very hot so had to have the fan on the whole morning. and where we are is nice and quiet so no blasted cockerels waking us up at 5.30 in the morning.
then today, we went to the rice fields witht he twins and a few other students. we went by motorcylce so no i can no longer say i have never riddena motorcycl. it was really good fun. i never wanted it to end. then we helped pklant some rice,, not a lot and only for about 30 minutes. but i was enoiugh to make me sweat a lot. after that we wennt back to the shack which i suppose was there house. they made us papaya salad with the promise that it would not be spicy. but it was. and although, as far as i could tell, it tasted good, it was simply innedible for me and fleur. but we had a really good day. fleur also ost her flip flops in the mud. she simply lifter her foot up to find her shoes gone which i found rather amusing. they had cows, a few cats and dogs on the farm. was really good day.
then after we went bak to tesco and to the hardware shop so now we actually have a mirror in the house.
thats pretty much been our weekend. its been really good fun.
tomorow we are going to the tessoban to do god know what but i think we might be getting our thai bank acounts sorted so hopefully that means money :0. then after we are doing and after school class thing with some of the secondary school pupils but we have no idea what to teach them. that could be fun. tomorrow is going to be a long day i think.
well its 8 oclok in the evening now and we are still in our hosts house so i should probably go and will update when possible.
i will finish this story now and continue at a later date. dont let me forget to tell you about tesco, growing rice and the dinasours in the temple.
