My first lesson.
we taught our first lesson in the primary school yesterday (friday). we did fruit. appropiate seeing that my first lesson practice on coll. except this time with thai fruits. we had drawn pictures of 9 fruit, and if anyone know my artistic tallents, it was incredibl the kids actually recognised what i had draw. we basicall just read them out and got the kids to repeat. then we played slap the board. the kids loved this. they got really really into it and all competitive. we did ait in a second class aswell. except this time the teams were split into girls and boys and i'm proud to say the girls one buy miles :0 i still dont think they actually learned anything but atleast they had fun, and so did we.
what else, well we went to the tessobna on monday only to be told that they had nothing for us to to so we got the day off. mind you, by this time we had been waiting an hour just to be told this. anyway, we decided to go to Johns cafe. john is an australian guy who live in loeng Nokta with his thai wife (who i think he met on the internet) anyway, he was lovely and we went to his cafe where he gave us free smoothies and his wife even made soup for us wihich was surprisingly tasty. so it ended up being a good day. he even had english magazines for us to read. we loved it so much we even went back on friday. he was really nice and its good to have a real conversation with another english speaker. apparently, there are actually qyite a lot of other farang (westerners) around in a 10 radius.
we went to the secondary school on wednesday and thrusday. as much as i prefer the secondary school to the primary, it was a surprisingly boring day. we quite lieterally went to the eric room for the whole 8 hours of 8-4 and played cards and went on the internet. occasuionally students would come in and sing songs, incuding my heart will go on becxasue apparently it was there homework and we were supposed to help them with their pronounciation, but they never really came to speak to us. so, a most boring day.
also, last friday clara and chess, othere project volunteers who are in a project half an hour away, came to visit with their host. i think their experience was quite different from ours. there host drank a lot of whisky and tonic water and kept slipping them some when possible. she evn did this on friday and brought her own bottle of whisky to the restaurant to our hosts utter horror. her face was hilariouse. shedrove for half on hour to get home afterwards. apparently they had done a lot of karaoke too so i think a visit to kutchum is necessary. though i am pleased to sday they seemed quite jealour of our little bungalow.
also, today we got a surprise visit from the peace corps volunteer who is teaching ain a little village no too far. he has been here for 20 months and is going to be here for another 5. brave man. but he was saying that he went on little weekend visits to places in thailand which inspired me and fleur to start looking through the guide books to plan out our summer holidays. probably a bit too much in advance but you can never be too prepared lol. anyway, apart from that we have had a pretty boring week but only two more to go until chang mai where shopping is going going to be a major feature i think. i am cutrrently surviving on very few clothes indeed.
