Finally! An early morning for us! We were up at 8am to go to the markets & breakfast We left the hotel at 8.45am, it was hard trying to get ready in the pitch black room (our Irish roommate was still sleeping) while trying to be quiet.
We found 'Shakey Isles' cafe pretty easy, it was on an old street corner, and looking fabulously Pommy. We went in and loved it straight away. Inside we were trying to decide on what to get when a polite young gentleman came in after us. He insisted on waiting for us to order as we had gotten there before him. I had to beg him to order first as we still didn't know what we wanted! It was nice to see that young people aren't all bad!
I ended up ordering the 'eggs benedict' and a 'Pear, lychee, kiwi fruit, mint & banana' smoothie! To be honest, it was just okay.. I've had better breakfast, and the smoothie was over powered with mint. But it was a wonderful change from toast & vegemite!
Kristy ordered the piklets with jam & cream! They looked absolutely incredible, and apparently tasted deish as well. She also got a 'hot chocolate' which came out with a stick of REAL chocolate to melt in! I got a try, and OHMYGOSH! I want hot chocolate like that more often!
After breakfast, we went to suss out the markets! They were just around the corner from the 'Shakey Isles' but were a bit dissappointing. They were very small.. But netherless, we still had a look around. Most of the stalls were produce or food. We didn't buy anything, but had a few samples of 'humus' which I quickly decided I didn't like, but pretended to for the sake of the stallholder.
We went walking for a while, but were soon going in the direction of out-of-town, so turned back and went home. Had a nap, then watched a movie before making dinner, which consisted of microwaved tin spaghetti & toast :)
We still haven't decided what to do tomorrow, maybe see what Andrew is doing and hang out with him before we head off to the Bay Of Isands early monday morning!

Heather Hey Amy.....Good girl....got outa bed early to have a special breakfast. Vicki is touting that here, but as the breakies are rather expensive, I'm not so keen. We've just been having cereal and fruit every day....much cheaper!!! I've never had a hot chocolate with actually chocolate melting in it. You must get the recipe.....I'll have one!!! Sounds like you're totally absorbing NZ....and enjoying the experience. Keep it up!!! Enjoy Bay of Islands.......
