We were up at 3am to get ready to leave Australia! That included, for me, almost repacking my entire luggage as I was worried I would be over the weight limit! At 4am, it was time to go. After saying bye to Uncle Denny, I grabbed the cold toast that was waiting for me for 45mins, put some Vegemite on, as us Aussies do, and ate it in the car. It seemed like the drive was over in a blink, cos next thing I know I was being dropped off at departures!
We soon met up with Kristy and her parents, and checked in. As my luck would have it, when I was the next to be checked in, the so & so people behind me just decided to cut in and 'didn't speak English' when I told them I was actually next. When I did get my turn, and put my extremely heavy bag on the weigher, it was only 18.3kgs! Woohoo! Less then Fiji!
So we went. And sat. With nothing to do. For an hour. Then the coffee place opened! But it was crap coffee. Kristy and I decided we should probably go through customs and get organized so they don't have to call our name over the speakers. It was sad saying bye to Auntie Marg, but probably harder saying bye to my Marcus. I haven't gone more then maybe 10 days without seeing him. That will be the hardest thing over here.
The flight was good, had a bit of a nana nap, which I REALLY needed! Then we were there we got a bus pretty quick, that dropped us straight to the door of Base Backpackers. There was a problem with our booking, they had us in separate rooms, and said there wasn't any way we could be together. We didn't want that at all! We were told to wait for a manager, but 45mins later, we were still sitting there. Turns out they forgot about us, just great. We ended up getting a room together as some people had just checked out, which was lucky.
The hotel & room are pretty depressing but that's to be expected. We met our first roommate, Carol, which was a shy quiet Asian girl. She was lovely. After that we went for a walk to 'Countdown' which is actually 'Woolworths'! Got a few things, (2min noodles!) which ended up costing $43 . After we dropped those off we went for a walk around the city and went and saw the Sky Tower, which is absolutely massive! We decided we needed the Internet to update everyone, so went to Gloria Jeans to leach off their free wifi! Not much happened after that, we went back to the hotel and met our other roommate, Andrew, who is an Irish guy! Haha he is pretty funny! A good laugh. We watched a movie & had noodles for dinner
bed time for us for some more adventures tomorrow!
