Up at 6.30 for breakfast at 7. Got served the delicious mint tea again, with some fluffy rolls and jam. I ate really slowly in case our host was intending to serve more courses like lunch and dinner yesterday. Thankfully not!!! Walked down to the boat at 8 to meet the others and said goodbye to Elstuckio and the rest of the village. Back on the boat, we travelled another hour to get to Tequile Island. This place rivals the Greek islands I think. It is stunning. We wandered up to the main square with Hoover, our guide, filling us in on the lifestyle and history of the islands inhabitants. They all have a subsistence existence and though they are part of Peru, live in isolation and don't pay taxes or have police etc. We stopped for a lunch of trout at a place that overlooked the water. I could have unpacked my things and stayed! After lunch we walked back down the other side of the island where our boat was waiting. Raoul and brad ran down and jumped into lake Titicaca. They didn't think any of the girls were up to it so I went and changed into my togs and (after some hesitation....after all the water was about 3 degrees) I leapt in. Raoul told me I am the second girl ever to take the leap. Katia came too...so our group set a record. I have to say, the water was pretty cold, so I certainly didn't stay in for long, but I am so glad I did it! Dried out on the 3 hr boat trip back to Puno and as soon as we dropped our stuff back to the hotel Bianca, Danielle and made a bee line for a coffee shop and chilled out there before going walking through the markets. The markets were the local ones, not the tourist ones and I think we were the only white people there. Plus we looked like giants as everyone here is so short. Made it back to the hotel by 7 for a briefing on our journey to Bolivia tomorrow, before heading to dinner at a place that Raoul says serves the best roast chicken anywhere. It certainly was awesome... And came with veggies which was even better!! We had a few drinks there and ventured on to karaoke. I left the others and went home at about midnight where I just fell into bed fully clothed. Was a pretty awesome day!!
