So as I previously mentioned, new years eve was spent at luna park, with a few of our friends from the flat complex that we live at. The point of the extortionate $139 admission ticket to the tiny inner city theme park was in order to gain a fantastiv view of the fireworks over the harbour bridge, and they did not dissapoint. I would have shared a photo of the display, yet none of the one's I took really captured how spectacular it was, and I have instead used a photo of another event we attended a few days later. Chloe, however managed to get a fantastic video of the start of the display, including the last few seconds countdown to new years eve which shows just how lucky we were to be in the position we were in. Getting into Luna park still did not guarantee a great view, the boardwalk that it provided enabled the oppurtunity though. We ended up sitting out in this area an hour and a half before 12am. This may sound a long time, until you consider that people camped out all over Sydney the night before to make sure they got a decent spot. Hence, it was $139 well spent. We also felt no need to go on too many of the luna park rides, queing even for the ferris wheel took over half an hour, although we did spend a bit of time waiting in line when we first arrived. Looking out moments before the fireworks started I longed to have a boat on the harbour, I seriously can't imagine anything better than that on new years eve!
A few days later (yesterday infact) Chloe and I attended the 2nd day of the final Ashes test in Sydney, which again was a fantastic experience. This, depsite the fact that the English batsman crumbled, losing 4 wickets in the space of about an hour. The final score of 155 looks to be the final nail in the coffin for a 5-0 whitewash to Australia, Alistair Cook, among others will certianly have a lot to answer for.........Other than the dour English performance, it was a great day out, with the sun shining down aggressively, causing burns all over my arms, legs and neck. The heat really can be relentless here, though I suppose I should not complain considering the atrocious storms that have been gathering all over Great Britain. Back to work in a few days which is incredibly depressing after having such a great time off, but I suppose it will be nice to earn again so I have plenty to save for the next step in our Australian adventure.
