Hi folks..back by popular demand!! Had a busy few days travelling round this week!! Tuesda we vsited the hospice just off the main road of Mbarara. here were no inpatients as these are seen at the main hospital and in the community. We were lead to A MDT meeting were we met Helen a consultant from Oxford who made us very welcome. We were pretty impressed witht eh set up considering what little resources they had. Oral morphine and analgesia is their only choice of pain relief. They state that "pain" is cultural and terminal aggitation does not exist. It made us realise how wrapped up in cotton wool the western culture is and how lucky we are to have such great services for support. Helen kindly asked us to a goat roast with other medical volunteers..and of course we jumped at the chance of a few Tusker Beers. I have to say one Doc look like R-Patz and I drooled over my chicken in a basket!! (declined the goat) Anyway moving on.....glancing sideways i saw Jane devouring a whole bloody Billy goat in her gob!! I really must revise my friends when I get home!! We have visited TASO ( The Aids Support Organisation) on wednesday and mixed with the community who were being tested for HIV! We also sat in on counselling sessions, which we found very upsetting, especially mothers with new born babies. Back at the guest house, e are having lots of fun with our new guests...who would have thought 2 grown up women (Alex & Jane) could ever steal from 2 poor students!!!!.....they've come in pretty handy for toilet roll...coffee...snack bars..toast..the list is endless!! Not spent a penny on food!! Bring it on!! 5 star luxury for us this weekned camping!!!! ;) We are visiting a Childrens Orphanage tomorrow and are very much looking forward to working and giving all the lovely gifts that were donated on the ward before we left. We are back on Safari this weekend then church Sunday! We depart for Entebbe on Mon to do some sightseeing so will keep you updated on our journey. Lots of love folks... Alex and Jane xxxx
