I did a whoe lot of NOTHING today. It was wonderful. I slept late, went to the grocery store (always interesting) and headed to the mall to get my gift for Juan Carlos and Luisa's wedding.
After that, we headed home and got to the important item... lunch. We had a delicious meal and for dessert Gaby and Don Jorge had a surprise... flaming bananas! Yes, that's right flaming bananas. It's butter, carmelized sugar, brandy and, well, some flame! It was like being in a fancy restaurant with the chef setting the whole dessert tray on fire. COOL! Not to mention they were delicious! It's never a dull moment at mealtime.
The rest of the day was spent enjoying a siesta, and prepping for my trip to Colombia. I leave Xalapa late Friday night (around 11) and fly out of Mexico City first thing in the AM Saturday. I'm starting to get a tad nervous, but I'm also really looking forward to it! I have a feeling it's going to be one of those experiences that incredible memories are made of.
Don Jorge's birthday is tomorrow, and it sounds like we're heading out for a nice meal. I brought him some smoked salmon from home, here's hoping he likes it!
