Arrived 6am passed quarantine then coffee and brekky at Latrobe checked out the coffee a bit of research for the Pickled Pelly. Nextwent to Launceston via tamar valley had wine tasting 11 pm at a winery recommended in the wine book by Halliday. It was so nice had to buy some for the cellar and will have to guard this stash closely while on holidays.
Next via George town and checked out the pilots museum which is the longest operating pilot station in Australia as started before Melbourne was occupied and is still going today. The head of the Tamar river has very treacherous access to the river and many boats have come to grief here including one in 1995 which spilled a lot of oil which meant a big cleanup and loss of wildlife. Next Bay of Fires winery known to be the best sparkling wine in Australia and I can vouch for that. Did not buy the $195 bottle of Arras but did get a couple of sparkling and chardonnay which I did like.
Launceston is not our favourite place so we drove around for 10 mins and said stuff if heading out of town towards Hobart looking for a nice place to stay and found a unit at Cambelltown which was nice had italian meal and again more research was on the agenda
Most memorable moment: Drinking Champagne at The bay of fires winery.
