A quick update as the cost of internet access rises rapidly the further you get from Cape Town.
Since the last update we've been in to Namibia for a week then returned to South Africa (Springbok) to see some more of the flowers of Namaqua. A very uncheerful immigration officer at the SA border concluded that we were border hopping and gave us 14 days to either apply to Home Affairs for a visa extension (not worth the time, effort or money) or get out of South Africa!
Putting a positive slant on it, we are going to Botswana with friends Isaac & Liesel in September anyway so we will have to stay longer in Botswana and maybe go on to Namibia before attempting to come back to South Africa in 3 months or so. Sadly we will miss the opportunity to see the whales close up at Hermanus in November but there is always another time.
Back in Springbok we got one excellent day for flower viewing before heading east towards Upington. We will add a photo album of the flowers shortly, it is an incredible spectacle to see fields of orange and white and purple flowers (I'd use the latin names but I haven't got time!) as far as the eye can see.
Hope everyone is well
Regards
Ralph & Angela
