What can we say...England's performance wasn't great, but the experience was fantastic. We got there for just after 7.30am on our first day to queue to get in so we could get good seats and it was worth it, we managed to get 7 rows from the fence. It was quite funny when we were queueing as well, Phil got himself on Aussie TV, Channel 10!! The TV crew came over and interviewed him about the cricket and then later on Alice's Mam and Dad saw him on the TV!!!! How funny! We were also sat just across from the Barmy Army which was great, they just sang the whole day, we joined in obviously, well me a bit more than Phil! Just to give you a little taster we thought we'd add in a few of the songs!!
"We are the Army, the Barmy Army, we are mental and we are mad, we are the loyalist cricket supporters, that the world has ever had!" (and repeat!!) "On the 5th day of Christmas my true love gave to me, 5 Panesars, 4 Panesars, 3 Panesars, 2 Panesars, and a Monty Panesar!!"
Jimmy was there too, for those non-cricket supporters, Jimmy is the cheer leader for the Barmy Army, he's so funny, he gets in all the magazines and papers and everything, he's pretty famous! And he would lead...
"Everywhere we go, (repeat) People wanna know, (repeat) Who we are, (repeat) And where we come from, (repeat) So we tell them, (repeat) Who we are, (repeat) And where we come from, (repeat) We are the England, (repeat) The Mighty Mighty England, (repeat) We are the Army, (repeat) The Barmy Barmy Army, (repeat)
Leading onto chants of Barmy Army, Barmy Army, Barmy Army.........!!"
And another one of our favourites was...
"We got 2 dollars to the pound, we got 2 dollars to the pound...we're so rich it's unbelievable.....!!!"
There are quite a few more but too many to put on here and a few we couldn't possibly repeat to be honest!!!
On the second day we also got there pretty early and we managed just a few rows in front of where we were the first day so really good seats again.
The stadium was amazing, really huge and the noise was unreal when everyone was singing and shouting, especially when Australia got a wicket, though that was the only time you would actually hear anything from the Aussie fans, not a patch on the Barmy Army!
Here's hoping for a better result next time round....
