The North Island...Our trip on the North Island started in Wellington, the capital of New Zealand. It was strange being in a big city again, there were about the same amount of people in Wellington that there was on the whole of the South Island! New Zealand so far...When we left Australia to fly to New Zealand we knew the temperatures were going to be a bit different but we weren't really ready for what we got! We landed in Christchurch on 18th April and lets just say being in 30 degree heat only 4 1/2 hours earlier made the 12-13 degrees of Christchurch feel freezing! The rest of the South Island...From Christchurch we drove to a place called Hanmer Springs where they have natural hot springs. The place itself was beautiful but it smelt pretty bad from the springs, you got used to it after a while though.
