Ohayou!
Today has been really fun, but really bizzare at the same time - yesterday, when we were leaving the train station on our way to the hostel, Joe spotted a flyer; "Japan Footbag Championships". The final was today - and we went.
Footbag is a sport which uses a small beanbag, and the players do a range of tricks with it - it's a lot more interesting than my description makes it sound, and really really hard. I can say that with authority since they got people up to try about halfway through, and I was the token whiteboy that they picked. But despite it being difficult, it was loads of fun, so I've decided to become a pro footbagger and take the sport to the Olympic stage!
The competition got really good when they did the freestyle section, where there were some ridiculously mad performances. Before this, however, was the "DJ TIME", which featured Japan's "SOUND JUNKIES ENTERTAINMENT", made up of "Hi-Flo" and...wait for it...DJ Cheese. One of Cheese's lines was "I'm the master of the sauce, so call me Ragu", and Hi-Flo seemed to get immense enjoyment from shouting "In tha house" for everything he saw, including but not limited to the writing on people's T-Shirts. Joe and I were embarrassed for hiphop worldwide.
There were some real characters in the sport too, such as "DJ BWODAWICK" (I assume he meant Broderick), the winner Kenzo, ChanChan, some dude with trees for legs, tall men, short men, and a completely characterless guy whose sole personality point was his boringness. My favourite guy won the first type of competition so I was happy, and Joe loved shouting KENZO so he was happy too.
This evening I went to the OSAKA POKEMON CENTRE. That's right, in Japan, they've made Pokecentres in real life. There weren't many pokemon being healed there, which was a shame, but it was fun enough to see the pokemadness. The other highlight was the MOS Burger, which was a gourmet burger joint we went to for dinner - McDonald's eat your heart out! D:
