Me, Nikki and Mike took the MRT to Little India, as soon as you step out of the station on to Serangoon Road, the smell of spices and fruit from the street peddlars is overwhelming at times. Here all things Indian inspired can be found- fabrics, materials, Henna, and food. You can still acquire the junky souvenirs of your trip. As you walk around the the street markets, there's the fruit sellers with the freshly gathered fruit and authentic tastes from India (which I daren't try for various reasons). The houses are all brightly coloured, groups of men sit outside conversing with one another. Also to be found here are numerous Hindu temples, allowing visitors to enter, but without shoes. The decorum is bright and bold, with the many idols presented. The first temple, Sri Veeramakallamman, we visited was packed with worshippers, tourists and was generally a place for acquaintances to meet up. The air conditioning wasn't too good in here, considering it was packed too. A little further down the street is another temple, less packed but equally magnificent in decorum. Mustafa's 24 hour shopping centre was an amazing place to pick up a bargain on electrical gadgets, I saw a Nintendo Wii for less than $200. Highly tempted! Items sold include keyboards, blenders, computers, tvs, dvds, memory cards, jewellry and mobiles, and even more!! Due to hunger, we stopped at a food court, I had my first taste of Hainanese Chicken Rice, it's really nice- fragant rice, steamed chicken, soup and soy sauce.
