As we made our way out of the mountains and down to what my friend Kate calls the Armpit of america, Barstow california we watched the temperature climb to 113 degrees. That is the hottest weather I have ever seen in my live. I watched my arm hairs bleach through the window as we drove through never ending orange groves. Holy Hot Farmland Batman.
We decided to stop in Burbank and have dinner with MB's friend Jen who she used to be roommates with in college. We stopped in griffen park and used an empty culdisack to change out of our grubby hiking clothes an into something more sutible for Hollywood Blvd. We ate at a Thai resturant called Simply thai. Between Jen, Erika (Jen's friend), MB, and Myself we split a few different dishes. Pretty good, but nothing compared to the Thai duck in Salt Lake City over Thanksgiving.
Jen and Erika work for the networks to handle the customer relations side of cable program vendors such a dish, comcast ect. They work on releasing new programing in exchnage for helping subscriptions to the prospective networks. Sounds like a pretty awesome job shmoozing clients, but there is a ridiculous amount of travel that is required. Jen is a pretty cool chick, I can see why they are friends.
After the Thai place we walked up the street for gelato and then jumped in the car for about to hours down the coast on 'the 5' to heathers house. The road system in So Cal is crazy. 9 lanes wide, 80 mph. Intense.
We arrived at Heather's around 10:30 and did laundry and chatted until 2 am. The bed was welcomed after our latest return to the woods.
