Today was our first night in a hotel. We were both very excited! We stayed in a Country Suites that was across the street from the Mall of America. It was also attached to a TGIFridays which is always dangerous.
The Mall of America is HUGE. Four stories, about a 1/4 mile loop of store after store. This place had four 'Lids' in one mall. The real reason why we went here was for the roller coasters. Nickelodeon Universe had a series of character themed rides. Our favorite was the Sponge Bob Plunge. This short 30 Second coaster went 200 feet straight up, and then did a 180 degree straight to the ground into a loop then heart line spiral. Pretty incredible for an indoor roller coaster.
On our second ride a little girl maybe ten years old was convinced by her parents to come on the roller coaster. Half way through at the top of her lungs she screamed "i don't want to do this anymore, I want to get off right now!" As crocodial tears poured down her face. Poor girl.
Next stop was the bowling alley inside the mall. This was a rock and bowl set up where at the end of every lane is a screen that plays the music video of the song that is playing. It was like bowling in a club. There was also a bar attached to the bowling alley. Due to understaffing we were allowed to play as many games as we wanted. We played for so long we had to switch to lighter balls just to get them to the end of the lane.
After the bar closed down, we started to make our way to the exit of the mall. The problem is after multiple adult beverages a mall of this size seems even bigger. We somehow ended up in the belly of this giant where the maintance and custodial crews work their magic from the basement. We immediatly knew we were in the wrong place, and we escorted by a man on a floor buffer to the closest exit. Good Times.
Lesson #4 Remember to Eat.
We totally skipped dinner that night so we ended up at TGIFridays eating loaded potato skins at midnight. We also ran into our bartender from the previous bar 'EJ' or Eric Johnson. Because of my clairvoience of knowing his name (a pure guess) he bought us a shot, SoCo Lime. My first regret of the trip considering I could still taste it the next morning.
MB was also chatting up a hippie looking dude named Jeremy Shultz. The conversation is foggy, but he did find our car and leave us a note wishing us well, and stating how much fun he had talking to us, and to not get eaten by any bears.
Lesson #5 Its the people along the way that make the journey.
