The first order of business was for Dale and Marty to make reservations to fly home from San Juan on the 28th. So while they went ashore to do that, I spent the time getting all my cold weather gear stowed in my seabag which I stowed out of the way in the forepeak.
When they all returned, I was shocked to hear that Marty and Dale decided to leave the boat today. They said it was because of cheaper air fares but I wonder. The plan was for them to get off at the fuel dock at West End and take a ferry to St. Thomas to catch their flight.
Anyway, we quickly got under way and went over to the fuel dock and waited a half hour for this big cat to clear out, only to find out that there was no diesel. No diesel! Well, nothing to do but head West for West End, Tortola for fuel there.
Turns out that the wind was behind us and it was a very lazy, relaxing sail down through the many little islands and all along the coast of Tortola, past the airport at Beef Island, and on past Road Town. Mezza Luna was making a nice 6 knots with only a Genoa up.
We were close enough to easily make out features on land and often we could see the bottom. It was one of those idyllic afternoons that makes up for all the rough seas and sleepless nights of a long passage.
Anyway, the trip took about four hours and as we neared our destination, Marty and Dale packed their bags and when we hit the fuel dock at West End, they were off the boat and a quick good-by. Now it was just me and Peter. I helped Peter fill up all three tanks and then top off the water tank. Then we cast off the fuel dock and went over to pick up our mooring.
Peter and I spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning out one of the water tanks. Then we went to dinner. The restaurant was nice but very few patrons. Peter and I were very amused at this group that engaged in endless picture taking of each other. Just when you thought they couldn't possible want another picture, another round of poses.
Peter and I were both pretty tired and went right to bed after we returned aboard.
