Wind still up, with gusts of 40 knots - so let's jump in a little zodiac and go for spin, what else would you do. Headed for Jougla Island first, which was full of penguins and had nesting blue-eyed shags. Almost blizzard conditions I think, snowing sideways and there is no shelter - this is brilliant, this is what I come for, some Antarctic weather!!
Next stop is Lockroy Island (also called Base A) and is officially the southern-most post office and shop in the world (Ushuaia cannot claim that title anymore) lockroy has people living and working at restoring and maintaining the buildings on this little Island - they have turned the main building into a museum - is only occupied during the summer months.
Both islands, the wildlife is covered in snow and ice - just wanted to pick up one of the little baby penguins and stick it in my jacket.
Attached photo is of me in the falling snow on back of ship - did not take my little iPhone to Islands so will all have to wait and spend hours looking at my proper photos when I return...haha, hours of fun and excitement!!
