Another landing this afternoon, this time it was actually on the continent Antarctica, gentoo penguins - there was even a blonde penguin, called leucistic penguin (the word leucistic comes from the Greek word leukos which means white). A random Adelie penguin showed up as well, it was super cute.
Also some petrels and weddell seals.
Glaciers surrounded us and could hear the constant cracking of ice (sounds like cannons and gunshots), sort of hoped a large piece would come off but all I saw was just some bits falling into the water, nothing dramatic.
Also went out on another zodiac cruise, there was brash everywhere (this is all the little broken up pieces from icebergs and glaciers), can make for a bit of a bumpy ride. Other than that it was smooth as glass with all the surrounding mountains reflected. We come across some crab eater seals, they just lazing about on the icebergs. By the way, they do not eat crabs, they eat krill - also if all the krill was collected up they would apparently weigh more than all the people together in the world.
I am again dressed for beyond freezing, hit the mainland and the sun comes out, temperature soars to a scorching 9 degrees and is completely still - am stripping layers off, could almost do a bit of sunbaking at this rate. 9 degrees people and I swear it almost feels like home in the summertime to me, just such a vast contrast from a few hours ago!
