Up early as we going out after breakfast. We went on a zodiac cruise first, zodiac is type of boat, so we cruising around icebergs of all shapes and sizes and then up pops 3 humpback whales. We sat and watched them for a bit and they were about 30ft from our little boat, 2 adults and a calf.
Then we headed for cuverille island for a landing, covered in hundreds of gentoo penguins. Good portion of the young are in moulting phase, which means they shedding all their fluffy feathers, and there were some 4/5 week old chicks as well. They so cute. Snaking through the ice are what is called penguin highways, all the penguins use these to go back and forth from the ocean. If you standing on highway or too close they stop and stare at you until you move and then they continue on their way - they are so fascinating to watch. Climbing up and down rocks, is hilarious to watch.
Okay, to give you an idea of how cold it currently is, I have 6 layers on my torso, long thermals and ski pants on bottom and 4 pairs of socks (yes they super duper icebreaker socks), my toes are frozen - ridiculous how cold it is. As most of you know I normally struggle with our winters in the whitsundays, can't imagine I will ever complain about dropping just below 20 degrees ever again.
