The adventures of Manny and Melly
Well it looks as though we are ready for our next move. Melanie and I are scheduled to be on a flight to visit the picturesque beaches of the southern Thailand. Chaing Mai is a wonderful place and I recommend it to anyone. It serves as a very nice gateway to the northern portions of the country if Bangkok is too much for you. The markets are amazing. It seems like there is a few every day and night. The nightlife is okay. Plenty of bars, plenty of drunks...Melanie and I participated in the fun two nights ago to celebrate my release from the hospital. Chaing Mai will never be the same again! Just good fun. Lots of expats, lots of Europeans, and of course lots of company for traveling single man. If I had to articulate one regret about the north it is that I'm leaving too soon. I'd love to stay another month or so and settle in. To the north there is Burma (I'd love to visit the poppy fields/next time) and to the northeast is Laos ( I hear it is what Thailand was fifteen years ago/isn't that always the case?). In whole however I've enjoyed the charms Chaing Mai, Pai, and the other parts I can't remember, or pronounce, have offered. I look forward to coming back, even if I get sick again. Talk to you guys later. Enjoy life.
