Having decided last night to stay for another night I went and rebooked after breakfast. The office girl straight off says "I hear you had a great night in the pub last night" in case what she'd heard was not all good I sort of denied it, no, we weren't in the pub.......lol She laughed and said "the first thing Kyle said this morning was those people in no. 1 are the nicest people". Of course given that I admitted it was us lol Kyle was our barman last night :-)
We went for a long walk, exploring a bit. Along the road we found at least 3 sorts of apple trees growing wild with masses of fruit and grapes & blackberries which are unfortunately just out of season. There are some really gorgeous spots along the river, most houses have at least a pier if not a boat house. It's not hard to imagine ourselves living here, perhaps semi retirement to a little B&B?
We found a very small snake, dead as good snakes should be lol there were a lot of butterflies, bees, bumblebees and dragonflies one of which happily landed on me.
The 2 hour cruise was great, fab commentary pointing out the places of interest. Most of the islands, large and small have homes on them. From grand castle style millionaires homes to humble cottages. They all looked pretty good to us :-). Everyone has a boat, of course, to get from their island home to the mainland. What we can't figure is how they could hope to regulate traffic crossing from Canada to the USA or vice versa. Not that there's much you'd want to smuggle other than perhaps cheap cigs from the US lol
Back on land we took another long walk in the other direction. Not sure why but there's an awful lot of properties for sale, they're calling to us lol
Another couple of hours on our balcony with wine and cheese, smoked Gouda and a cheeky french red this time, was followed by another evening in the local pub. Again it was a great night, such friendly locals. We really do feel at home here. They were all joking as they left that they'd see us again tomorrow night lol I must admit, it'd be very easy to stay here til we leave. Once again we were the last to leave the pub but this time at least there was one other guy shown the door at the same time as us. He's an interesting guy, he builds air boats and wants us to be his Aussie reps!
Ooh BTW did I mention the shower here? It's about 5' square with a tiled bench seat along 2 sides, it almost seems a waste having only 2 of us in there lol

Dee Sounds like the perfect place to retire... could be a bit chilly in winter in comparison to Queensland though :)
Sue Pete would love the winter but I'm thinking we'd need a second home to bolt to as soon as it gets too cold. Given the real estate prices its quite possible we could afford a second home some place warm.
