We did a cruisy drive today from Quebec City with only a vague idea of our destination.
There was a lot of road works going on along the way so some of it was slow going.
We did a quick circuit of Montreal, from appearances it's a big city with little to offer the casual tourist. We did some shopping, the usual basics; Camembert, red wine, ham and bread.
Pete's peeve was everything, even all road signs in Quebec were in French. We get its a French speaking place but most of their tourist trade comes from either the US or other English speaking countries so some road signs in both languages would be handy. As soon as we hit Ontario it all changed, signs were in English then French, a very sensible, useful answer to the issue.
Heading off the busy highway we took to the Thousand Island Hwy and cruised alongside the St Lawrence. Seeing a sign for Rockport we took the narrow winding road and found a lovely little town, pub, restaurant, motel, church and not a lot more other than a co that does cruises among the 1000 islands. It's gorgeous so we booked into the motel and settled onto our waterside balcony for a few drinks and the afore mentioned Camembert.

Having always had an, at best vague idea of where we were heading after here, we did a bit of research over the wine and cheese and worked out where to for the remaining 11 days before we head home. Hard to believe its almost been two months.......

We had quite a few drinks in the pub over the way from our room and chatted to the locals. One asked to see Aussie money and then asked to buy a $10 lol we were happy to oblige :-)

As this is such a gorgeous place we've decided to stay an extra night and do the longer boat cruise tomorrow. This really has been a great little find -)
