It was a very slow start this morning after last nights excesses lol
We managed to get to the last bit of Julian Baggios talk re collecting in Oz, mostly due to all the speakers getting pushed back an hour otherwise we would've completely missed it. We then went to hear Matt Wandell and finally Joe Yaiullo speak. After joe's presentation we spoke to him at some length and told him we were heading his way so now have a standing invitation to let him know when we'll be visiting the Long Island Aquarium and he'llbe sure to be there to show us all around the operation which is going to be awesome.
We did one last round of the exhibition hall collecting info, chatting to suppliers and got yet more free stuff, no idea how much of it we can take back to Oz but we will give it a go. Of course we will declare it so don't go getting excited thinking you'll be seeing us on Border Patrol lol
That was pretty much it, our first MACNA has come to an end. We've had an awesome time, met some amazing knowledgable people and seen some very interesting products. Those who organised this thing, like Tony Vargas in the pic with us, have done a fabulous job. If anything has gone wrong it's not been a big enough deal to register.
For those reading these blogs who aren't reef nuts it'll all get a lot lighter from here on out, more travel stuff and for the most part less fishy.
We made ourselves a drink each and went to the lobby bar to do some people watching. Last night it amazed us how many did just that, brought alcohol, even snacks from their room and sat in the bars, around the pool etc consuming it all. In Aust you'd get thrown out! This evening, sipping G & T and sthn & max from our Fishtank Kings sipper bottles we felt a little guilty not paying the outrageous bar prices. That sense of guilt disappeared when the family at the table next to us got a delivery of take out!! Now we're not talking some rinky dink motel here it's a 5 star resort complete with multiple restaurants and bars. I'm pretty sure such behaviour would not be tolerated by an Aust hotel of the same calibre.
We got chatting again to a guy we'd talked to last night, his friends joined us and before we knew it we were all off to the Boardwalk for dinner. It was a cute little Mexican place, burritos all round, us still sipping from the Fishtank King bottles lol by the end of it all we were pretty good friends with John and Michelle and in the case of Marie and Carl friends and business colleagues in an exciting new venture. More on that once we're back home ;-)
As seems to happen lately it was soon 2am, time for one last swim. This time we tried out both pools before heading to bed.
