Checked out about 11am and started heading up to Cape Canaveral. On the way out of town we went over another of the drawbridges but unlike the day we arrived when the big one was open and we had to wait for a ship this one was firmly down.
We left the 6 lanes each way highway to get some lunch and fill up with petrol. Deciding it was all a bit boring on the highway we headed for the coast at Juno Beach and kept pointing north.
Entering Juno beach we went over another of the drawbridges which we're finding them very interesting :-) We were much happier once we'd swapped the soulless highway for the much smaller, slower coastal roads.
The beaches were very busy, nice and sandy with clean blue ocean. It remains a mystery to us why they all use salt here instead of NSW???
We took our time long the scenic route and decided to hit the space centre tomorrow morning, bright and early is the plan but who knows with us? Lol
We stopped off in Cocoa Beach for the night, right on the beach which unlike most place, has small waves. Free boogy boards, surf boards etc if you want them. The weather has turned a bit, from warm and sunny to tropical stormy, rain, thunder and lightening.
We've got full cooking facilities for a nice change tonight so we are all set to go, loads of fresh veg and steaks for tonight, bacon and eggs for tomorrow's breakfast.
Went for a little walk on the beach between storms, thats the pic we took of Cocoa Beach. There are areas with turtle nests fenced off to try and preserve them. I'm hoping we can see some hatching tonight but that's probably a bit of a dream lol
There's a laundry here so we hit that.
Finished off the Caribbean duty free blue sapphire tonight, there was only 2 left after MACNA and Pete's southern ran out last night; we had to buy some beers for Pete today,, no wonder we usually make our own spirits lol
Hoping for an early night so we can fulfil our hope of an early start tomorrow for a change.
