Today I went to visit Windsor Castle. It was about a 45 min journey from London. I had to change trains once but it was worth it because you were able to get a great view of the castle as the train aproached Windsor. I used up the last day of my Britrail pass doing this. The castle was much larger than I thought it would be. You were able to explore most of the castle. I was able to see the parts that had been heavily damaged during firein 1992. Very interesting castle. They had a room with a "doll" house inside. Everything was made to scale using the actual components of the larger version. For instance, it had working plumbing and electrical systems. I think it was made for Queen Victoria. The Stewarts lived at the castle for a short time and there were a few paintings of Stewarts on the walls. I spent about 3 hours at the castle. I ate lunch in Windsor. I just had a sandwich from the grocery store. They are surprisingly good. I have not had anything horrible in the UK. After Windsor I came back to London and wandered around for a little and then just took the rest of the day easy. I have been doing a lot of walking so it was nice that I could have a break.
