I haven't had time to update the blog in a little while. So I decided to give it go and try and remember what I have been doing. I been on numerous walking tours. On Monday I hung out with a guy from the hostel and we went on two tours. Both were nice. We went into the British Museum and saw the egyptian room, the stones from the Parthenon, and the rosetta stone. All very cool. I am currently staying directly across the street from the British Museum, I look out the window at it.
Tuesday.
Tuesday I went on a free* walking tour around London. We saw the major sites, Buckingham Palace, the changing of the guard, the house that prince charles lives in, st. james palace, westminster abbey, parliment, big ben and some other things as well. The tour ended up in a pub and we got 25% off our meals, so it was good. The tour was great, the guide had a great attitude and added some comic relief. If you liked the tour you were supposed to tip at the end, so I did. In the afternoon I saw the national gallery and then went on another walking tour led by the same guy that had given me the earlier tour. Once again the tour was great. We saw the darker side of london, starting out at the tower of london and then seeing the jack the ripper areas. I met some guys on the tour, talked hockey and then we all went out to dinner.
Wednesday.
Went to hard rock cafe and got my pin. Walked by the changing of the guard. Walked on the millenium bridge. Saw the tate modern. Saw the big cathedral that diana was married in. Saw the globe theater. Tried to keep the walking to a minimum becuase my feet are sore.
Thursday.
Wandered around town. I stumbled upon a rehersal for when obama comes to london. It was pretty interesting. Like the changing of the guard but much larger. And there was not nearly the crowd as there was for the chaning of the guard so I got to be right up front. One of the soldiers fainted right in front of me. It was a little strange, but they pulled him off in a strecher. Then I went to Hyde park and the victoria and albert museum. It was interesting. I took one of the double decker buses back to trafalgar and looked around there for a while.

Grandpa Jim Sounds like you are having a great time. The blog is interesting. Your great uncle was a member of the London County Council years ago. James Young. I have a cousin in Bristol, Eng, Her husband died about 3 or 4 years ago.
JYS Sounds wonderful. Wish I were there. You are doing so much more than we did when we were in London.
HMR Finding your account very interesting! Wish I were there, never did make it to England.
