Well, this will likely be the last post from Yekepa. We are essentially packed, and ready to leave after our workshop in the morning. A long 7 hour drive will follow as we head to the capital city of Monrovia.
The campus is a buzz! The President of Liberia, will be here on Sunday as part of the Independence Day celebration, so everyone is busily preparing. Our team worked into the wee hours of the morning laying concrete yesterday, and had another long day today. I am thinking they will be sleeping big time on the plane! Another of our team was extremely helpful in getting the/a sound system in the chapel, dining hall, and somewhere else. Talk about God putting people in place to get a job done! Our construction team has been killer in doing what's needed no matter what!
We held our last book club today. All six days were totally awesome, loved interacting with the children, and will miss their smiles tremendously! Sharing a love and passion for reading I so enjoy! I believe my mom would be glad to see me sharing with others her love of reading. My prayer would be that the ripples would extend beyond this community and reach into greater Liberia to allow them to begin developing the foundation needed to develop into a great and flourishing nation!
This country has potential that has been seriously untapped, and the devastation of war only worsened the situation. Many things need to be addressed, but I believe God will continue to work in and through willing servants.
More later as I continue to process! God gives us great learning through trips like this if we are willing to listen to His spirit speak. Even when it becomes uncomfortable for us, and challenges our belief structure!
