A fresh wake up at 430 this morning to head up to the breeding program to hear up close the dawn "roar off". I'm not sure if it was the freezing wind and the lions were also feeling it but they let us down and only performed a token chorus for us. We quickly bundled back into the troopie, rugged up and back to bed before our usual morning walk.
Waking up for the second time in time to take Laili and Lewa for their morning walk. The girls bound out of the enclosure full of energy. It didn't take long before we came across a group of impala. Laili was in hunting mode and and Lewa soon joined in. They both gave a great chase but no luck again - its all excellent practice and amazing watching their natural instincts on show.
An easy morning and enjoyed my first elephant ride, albeit a little nervous, they are huge! They be huge but they are gentle giants. I was was riding Chebi who is the youngest female of the group at 23. We led the way and soon enough I relaxed and flowed with the movement. I love the cheekiness as Chebi's trunk was as far back to us as she could, tapping demanding for more food.
A relaxing afternoon chilling out on the grass in the sun getting very sleepy.
Bush bonfire night, African brai, beers and boxed wine - great way to start the weekend! Too many beers meant too many bush toilet breaks though... all part of the fun!
