Oh my head hurts! Thank goodness I was able to have a little sleep in as I was joining the community project team for the day.
Visiting the Mkobo Clinic which runs a maternity ward, baby monitoring, an outpatient clinic, TB and HIV treatment and a small dispensary. What a contrast to our hospitals! Bare minimum equipment which is years old, and very basic supplies.
As the clinic was fairly quiet - which is a good thing, means no sick people. We assisted in cleaning the maternity labour rooms. A bit of handy andy and disinfectant and we're done, definitely not up to Australian standards.
Returning to the Mickey Mouse early childhood centre to finish painting of the classrooms we started last Friday. We arrived earlier than planned so the head painter was not there, so we joined in the class with the littke cherubs who were aged up to 5 yo. Each child is given a sweet bread bun and warm watery tea, all the while singing songs, the alphabet and counting while everyone is being served with we helped with. The loud chorus of the kids repeating what the teacher was saying and singing was not so great for my hangover but enjoyed spending time there. The kids are all so well behaved even with us distracting them.
An hour later we were a step closer with the painter arriving. The comedy of watching him and his buddy get organised and more so trying to measure a line to divide where we were painting - first using a stick even though the walls were not at equal height to trying to draw with chalk an uneven line around to eventually using a measuring tape. Finally into it and almost done we ran out of paint (again).
Thankfully I started to get my second wind and managed my afternoon lion walk with Paza and Penya who had just eaten, their bellies so round and slow moving.
What a long day! After dinner it was an early night and bed for me.
