today was another long day! but so much fun as always! we had our academic orientation which was really helpful and we found out a lot of useful information. the consulate guy came and talked to us and filled us in on our rights and all that fun stuff. then the italian military police talked to us about things in the city to keep an eye out for and such. i found out my schedule and where my classes are, they are spread throughout the city but its not too bad everything is still reasonably close. which is nice and i know how to get there which is really weird because i'm starting to learn florence, which is wicked weird just typing about it. the city is awesome and really easy to navigate once you realize whats around you and recognize the monuments and everything. we had our orientation in the theater which looked more like a set out of a movie because it was so unbelievable!(look at the pix). after the orientation we all came back and took a nap, i passed out for like 2 hours which was nice because i definitely needed it. then we all just hung out around the apartment and got some dinner, we had our first dinner in the actual apartment which was nice. for the rest of the night i've been trying to upload all my pictures and my blog so now i can finally go to bed! its 1:23 am here and i'm done haha! for tonight atleast! love you guys! wish you could hear the bells that go off every hour across the river, we can see them sway back n forth and its beautiful.

Michelle Hi Suzanne, I'm so glad that you decided to study in another country. I am a firm believer in life experiences, as a teaching tool. Traveling teaches us to look at how we live objectively. It also gives you great confidence. Travel carefully and enjoy!!! Love, "Big" Michelle
Sarah It sounds like your adventure has started off really well! Your enthusiasm is awesome. I actually got inspired to look back at our pictures from going to Italy in 2005 after reading your blog post and seeing some of the photos on Facebook! Jeff and I loved Florence. Such a beautiful city and so much to do...we crammed it all into 3 days in the city so I can't wait to hear about all of the cool things you do over the course of the semester! I'm sure you will spend most of the time at first in Florence, but don't forget about Cinque Terre. It looks like it is about a 2 hour train ride. Such a cool "tiny" place! Looking forward to following along with your adventure over the blog! Love, Sarah (+Jeff +Brendan)
