Hey there everybody back home! Well, sorry it´s been so long since we last updated- I guess that was almost a month ago! Time is really going by fast. We´ve been busy travelling around and seeing lots of new things. This last week was so fun- we went to a small town to see what the indigenous people do for the holiday called ¨The Day of the Dead¨. They celebrate this holiday on November 1st (it´s like their version of Halloween, but is very different than how we celebrate it.) We went to this famous town called Patzcuaro and then took a boat across the lake to a small island. There we saw decorated ¨tumbas¨ (like graves) where the people stay up all night with their deceased loved ones. They lit candles and had flowers and the persons favorite types of foods at the grave. It was really interesting and very cool to see. We were going to upload our pictures from the experience on here so you could see, but then decided that we need to save some pictures to show you at Christmas time when we visit. Ok, so that took place Nov. 1st at night and lasted all through the night. We were so tired! I could hardly keep my eyes open. Then at like 6 in the morning, we left that town and took a bus to the capital city of our state called ¨Morelia¨. It was the most beautiful place we´ve been to so far. The city is huge and has very old antique buildings with a lot of history. Adam loved learning about all the history. We went to all these museums and also to the zoo there! The zoo was really fun because the we could see the animals super close up- the cages were a lot different from the zoos we have back home. We also did a lot of shopping and just walked around the city. Adam was so excited to eat at a Burger King that we found- we spent about 200 pesos on that meal (that´s like $20 USD!) We also found a Walmart there, so that was fun for me- just walking down the huge isles and looking at everything. Except I was hoping to find some familiar foods and ingredients for cooking, but everything there was like total Mexican style (Duh Sarah- that´s probably because that is where we are- in Mexico). I just sort of miss cooking the way I know how. Like, I really wanted to find ingredients for making chocolate chip cookies, but they don´t use brown sugar here and don´t have things like chocolate chips, baking soda, etc... Oh well, I guess a few more months of tacos, burritos, etc.. isn´t going to kill me =) Of course Adam is still in heaven with the food here- he´ll never get sick of it. So, we had a very fun 4 day vacation. It was hard to go back to work on Monday. I guess that´s it. Everything else is about the same- work´s good, learning spanish is ok- coming along slowly buy surely... We´re going to have a full house this next weekend becuase Jason´s mom and brother are coming to visit. (Jason´s our roommate). It should be fun- Adam and I are probably going to get on a bus Saturday morning and go explore another town for the day to give them some alone time. I think we´ll probably try to find a movie theatre and then stay overnight in a hotel. It should be fun- we could use the alone time together. (This last trip we took was with Jason also, which worked out ok, but it´ll be nice to just spend time alone together). Ok, keep us updated with everything going on at home. We´ll talk to you later and will see you very soon!!! Love, sarah
