Schenck Adventures
Hello everybody this is Adam, finally putting my two cents in. Like always I've been letting Sarah do all the talking/writing. Oh well, you gotta stick with what your good at. I love it here in Mexico, the weather is great, the people are all friendly, and the food is out-of-this-world!
I don't really have any exciting or funny stories to tell because Sarah has stolen them all. I am really enjoying teaching; it took a little while for me to get used to it and to learn how to control my kids. By now they're all pretty familiar with the back of my hand (just kidding).
The biggest surprise I have run into is the amount of American culture that is everywhere. It is truely ridiculous, MTV is playing everywhere we go. All our kids are from fairly wealthy families, they always talk about what cool car they're going to get, what they're new cell phone can do, or what kind of platic surgery they want to get. It's kind of frustrating in a way because I wanted to get away from that sort of shallowness and materialism that I saw everywhere in the states. Los Reyes is, in general, very poor but we rarely get to see that side of it. I really want to get out there and talk with people from all walks of life so I can get a better understanding of where I am. I really need to work on my Spanish before I can do that because most Mexicans can't afford a fancy-dancy English teacher.
