Wow, it's hard to believe that I have now been home for almost a week and a half. The last week or so in England was so busy that I didn't have time to update and now, well I'm just missing it. In this entry I'll catch everyone up on my final couple of days in Oxford.
Monday was really my last day to finish papers, but after a couple hours of typing I was ready to get out of the house. I had been sitting in the dining room in the same spot typing, it seemed since Saturday. So, me and Renee headed into Oxford, where she dropped off her papers (lucky girl) and I decided to wander around Oxford by myself to do some last minute shopping. It was a good I left my credit card back in the room, because otherwise I think I would have bought half of Oxford. But, unforunately, I still had a paper to finish, so I headed back to the Vines. I finished before dinner, so I spent the rest of the night pretending to edit my papers, while really talking to whoever was around and watching movies.
I finished editing my papers in the morning, and we went into town to drop them off. We then had plans to go to some museums, but that changed when we couldn't get into the national history musuem (we think that someone had died or something inside). So we wandered around, then headed back to meet some other girls (the guys were being annoying), to go punting. Punting was a lot of fun, especially because I wasn't the one that had to steer. We did a whole lot better than the other boat of girls, who almost got stuck forever in a tree on the bank of the river. We hit the bank a couple times, but by the time we got back Renee was really getting the hang of it. We than all rushed back to the Vines, because we had to get dressed for the night's activities. David had found out about a concert that was being held at the Sheldonian Theatre, with Vivaldi and Bach, among other composers. Poor guy, it ended up being him and nine girls going. It was amazing to hear these composers performed live by such talented musicans. For me, it was the ideal capstone of the trip. It didn't quite measure up, but afterwards we went to a pub to listen to some jazz musicans play.
Wednesday, our last day. The thought of it was depressing. I was feeling down early in the morning, because I was thinking about leaving the next day, but I tried to focus on spending the last day fully. Me, Rachel, Kim, Joy and some others headed into town to try to fit in some last minute things, and take pictures of the city. I went to Waterstone's to reserve my copy of the new Harry Potter book. That afternoon we had a goodbye tea in the church garden that is right across from the Radcliffe Camera. It was actually kind of more sad for me than anything else. I knew I was going to miss Oxford and all the fun people that I had meet.
