MY BAG IS HERE!!!!
Thank you so much to all of you that have been praying. It arrived yesterday while I was in classes. I know that it would have never happened if it wasn't for all the work my Dad did to get everything figured out. Thanks Dad! Unfortunately, before I knew this yesterday I had gone shopping for all the things that I had been running out of. But, if I have anything to say about it, U.S. Airways will be paying for all of it. Their debt for pain and suffering must be paid (and they are paying for the two oxford t-shirts I bought to wear too)! Down with U.S. Air!!!!! Yeah for new clothes!!!! :)
A lot has happening in the last few days, so I'll just highlight a few things in this entry. Yesterday there was registration for the Bodley (ahhh...so British). Simply put, the library has ever book printed in Britain for the last 500 years and then some. They are stored in miles of shelves underground and outside the city. So, if you want to read a book, you have to order it up to come to a certain "reading room". Depending on where the book is, this could take a couple of days. The reading rooms are mostly organized by subject manner, with some books on the shelves in those rooms. But you don't have to be studying a certain subject to use that reading room. Also, the books can't leave the library. You have to read and take notes on them in the reading rooms. This is the most foreign concpet to me. I am used to being able to go through a book with post-it notes and having it in front of me while I am writing a paper. The entire concept is rather intimidating. I haven't gone inside to study yet, but I will have to soon to research my papers for class.
On a lighter note, the food here has been good for the most part, considering that I discovered that the evil Sodexho, who does meals up at school, does them at Wycliffe Hall as well. Yesterday we had bangers and mash for lunch. It is sausages, mashed potatoes, and green beans inside a bread, pastry like bowl. I thought it was really good, so I hope we have it again before I leave.
More will be revealed in the next installment...
