I can't believe that I've been here over a week in England. It seems that that time is flying and soon it will all be over. I feel like I want to freeze time so I can experience every moment better. I'm enjoying a little alone time this morning because all my roommates are out. I was bad and didn't go to church, but I really just needed some time to myself this morning. That's hard to get with three roommates and a house full of 40 people. I love spending time with people, but sometimes I just want to be alone!
Everything here is simply so green. That's because of the rain, of course, but I do enjoy seeing the green grass and trees and all the beautiful flowers. It's just not quite the same at home. We got lucky and have a beautiful view out of our window which overlooks the backyard and we can see the city in the distance. The walk to Wycliffe Hall each day is also fun, because it goes through some of the University parks. One day I will have to take some pictures as we walk to classes.
My classes are also fascinating, although I wish that we had more time to discuss the books we are reading. It really is hard to be able to discuss all of Jane Austen's novels in seven class periods. Normally I also like to have a little time to get comfortable with the class and professor before I speak up a lot in class, but I really don't have that time here. I just have to make the plunge! Just being in Oxford makes me feel like I am surrounded by intelligence. I am so glad that we have our general lectures above and beyond our two classes, because I feel like it is making it such a well rounded learning experience. Every day I am learning things that I simply would have never thought of before, which is so exciting. I am starting to develop ideas for my papers, so I will have to start researching this week.
