Hi everyone! So its friday, we didn't have any classes, so I guess Ill update you on the goings on over here thus far.
We got here without a problem and got setteled and then attended a short walk around tour of our area followed by grocery shopping. On tuesday we had yet another walk around tour and class. Our professors seem great and loads of fun, so classes should be easy to get through. The group of us went out to a local pub and had drinks and just hung out. Wednesday we had two classes and then as part of our one class, we had high tea at Kensington Palace. It was really nice. It was the first time I ever had tea too. Although it was fairly good, Im still not a hot beverage drinker. They serve you a three course meal of bread fingers (white bread with cream cheese and cucumbers), scones and cake. All of which is very good. After that we walked around Kensington Palace some more and then retired to our flats for the evening.
Thursday we had another walking tour which took up a couple hours, and then later we all went out for Hasani (a kid in our groups) birthday. We ended up taking the tub finally (a LOT nicer than septa in philly) and went down to soho. We went to a couple of pubs and had a few drinks and the lot of us ended up getting really pissed (pissed is their word for drunk. sorry mom. lol.) we made it back safe and sound by taking the bus home, and then we all just about passed out.
Today we had a coach tour of the entire city. We saw big ben, tower of london, westminster abby, buckingham palace, parliment etc. We will be going on more extensive tours of all these places later, which is why I have such few pictures of them.
The picture I have currently is of Imperial College where we go a lot to drink, or to study. It is a science school, and about the equivelent of MIT back at home. It's really nice.
I've noticed a lot of cultural differences so far. British people are much more open wth their opinions. They are very straight forward, and very opinionated. London is also very green. They have over 60 parks through out the whole city. I'm pretty sure philly has about 2, and Love park doesnt really count because it isnt green, just a fountian. It's so nice here. The weather has been wonderful, and it is suppose to be gorgeous the next couple of days. No rain so far, but I am sure that will change.
I think that is about it for now. Ill keep you updated. Love and miss everyone!
Love,
Sarah xoxo
