I have done so much since my last blog I just don't know where to start!
On the school front everything is going well, starting to do more in lessons; I've had to talk about London a lot, and am still getting some cracking questions; "Have you had tea with the Queen?" and "Have you been to Hogwarts?" are my favourites so far; the look on the children's faces when I told them Hogwarts wasn't real was quite hilarious.
On the socialising side of life here I went to the Nachtcafe in Darmstadt with Jana and her friends; who are just as nice! Although it was insanely expensive there...it is no Brassick I tell you that! I also went to a bar which had something that looked like a school disco with cheap alcohol, and which turned out to me such an awesome night. I met laods of people who just seem facsinated by the fact that there is an English person in the town!
This weekend just gone I visited three great German cities over 3 days. The first day I was in Heidelberg with Jana. It was such a beautiful city with so much to see, the Schloss was amazing as were the views from the top! There was also a Christmas shop that was open all year around, and a Woolworths; I don't think anyone else other than a Brit would appreciate seeing a Woolworths!
The second day I went with my mentor to Cologne, where I was dropped off and left to my own devices all day. I visited the Dom again, which was nice as there was a service going on, so it was good to see it in use. I then went to a Roman-German museum which had some awesome mosaics inside which were only discovered when building air-raid shelters in WW2. I then met up with Rebecca Baldwin and her family and we went to the chocolate museum. Although I had been there before, I enjoyed it just as much and I had a great time learning about how chocolate was made, and eating it of course!
On the third day I went to Frankfurt with Louise bell, my roomie from Altenberg, to go to the IAA ( a famous car show). Although all my ar knowledge has come from top gear (so basically I don't know very much), I had a fantastic time and saw so many awesome cars...if anyone wins the lottery I would like a Bugatti Veyron please! Another high light of the day was meeting the FSV Mainz football team and getting their autographs.
So all in all the past 10 or so days have been very busy, but very good at the same time. Hopefully by my next blog I will have been to Oktoberfest...so stay tuned!
:-)
