Sorry about the lack of updates on the blog lately but I've not really done anything interesting in the last few days. My elective is going well and I'm learning a lot. It seems like psychiatry is definitely the specialty for me! We went out for a meal last night to celebrate exam results as all four of us passed everything. We tried out a Thai restaurant in town which had been recommended to us by one of the house officers. The food was really fresh and REALLY tasty.
This weekend, five of us are renting a car (I'm driving eek!) and going to White Island in Whakatane (pronounced Fakka-tarn-ee). I'm really excited about it as it's the most active volcano in New Zealand and I've heard there is also a good chance of seeing dolphins and whales on the boat ride over.
Katy and I have planned our route after travelling and have surprisingly got time to do everything we wanted, including a weekend skiiing (money permitting). I won't reveal exactly what we've planned as I want to surprise you as we go along but highlights include hiking up Mt Doom, tubing through gloworm caves and spending a night in a Maori village - and that's all before we leave the North Island! Jealous??
