Today at work I prepared a collection of make-up to send to an artist for his next photo shoot. I wish I knew who the photo shoot was for because the recent photo shoots have been with Lady Gaga and Elton John. I had to pick the best 2 photos out of about 6 from Lady Gaga’s photo shoot to send to L’Oreal stores around the world. I love my job. I also now know what body lotion and make-up Lady Gaga uses (Kiehl’s Crème de Corps and shu uemura foundation mousse, mascara, and eye shadow!). This does have a negative side, now I want to buy all those products. And let me tell you, they are not cheap.
After work I was asked to go play netball, which I guess is a U.K. version of basketball, expect the rules are different, the ball is different, and there’s no backboard. I politely declined. I can barely make baskets WITH a backboard.
For dinner Jessica and I made these chicken strips we bought. They were extremely cheap. They smelled and tasted like chicken, but did not look like chicken. I just had to close my eyes when I took bites. But I kept reminding myself of the phrase, “If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, looks like a duck, it must be a duck.” It tasted like chicken, smelled like chicken, and I just ignored that it didn’t look like chicken. It looked like cotton balls with seeds in them, deep fried, wrapped with breading. Regardless, I kept telling myself, “it must be chicken.” I think that is the last time I will buy meat that is that cheap. If I die tomorrow, play Bruce Springsteen and OAR at my funeral.
On a brighter note, today the weather finally made it higher than 70 degrees! It was 72 today and sunny! All the British people at work kept talking about how “bloody” hot it was outside. I wanted to mock them and tell them I thought the weather was “brilliant” and I “fancied” the sun, but I held back. Of course tomorrow it will be back in the 50’s, we won’t see the sun for another 3 weeks, and of course, there’s a 100% chance of rain. Good thing I have my ridiculous plaid umbrella!
