Well I just spent the whole afternoon exploring. It was pretty fun. Tim, Ryan, Jessica and I went to Trafalgar Square. We climbed on the lions at the feet of Lord Nelson, I was so proud of myself for climbing up there. The Square commemorates the Battle of Trafalgar, where the British defeated Napoleon. The lions are made out of cannons the British stole from the French after the battle; I thought that was pretty cool. There is also a statue of George Washington there to honor his promise to never again step foot on British soil. The funny part is that they imported soil for the statue to stand on. There are huge beautiful fountains there, and a big sign that counts down the days, hours, and minutes until the 2012 Summer Olympics.
The one thing I HATED about Trafalgar Square is all the damn pigeons. They are EVERYWHERE. Seriously, all over London there are just pigeons walking around and they are NOT afraid of people. They fly right at your face. I hate it so much, and I can't get used to it. Every time I see a pigeon start to fly, I jump. In Trafalgar Square, there is an abnormal amount of pigeons. And even though feeding the pigeons is now outlawed, of course there are children everywhere feeding the pigeons and then running after the pigeons. The pigeons seem to love to fly at my head. And they walk right next to me, like they think we are friends. I will squash the next pigeon that comes near me.
Okay anyway… After Trafalgar Square we went to Covent Garden. There are a lot of pigeons there too, but I'll move on from that topic. At Covent Garden we say the Royal Opera House and lots of little shops and bakeries and such. They always have live performances there. Today there was someone walking on a tightrope while juggling machetes. There are also a bunch of people who paint themselves and pretend to be statues. Jessica and I took a picture with the Queen. I'm just going to pretend it was the real Queen.
After that we did some shopping, well, Jessica, Tim, and Ryan did some shopping, I just pouted about how expensive everything was and willed myself not to buy clothes (yet). We went to this nice little place to eat and it was the first time that we were not charged at a restaurant for water. Every other restaurant we've gone to has charged us for water, it sucks.
Then we went home to go do our homework… so fun. Now we're just sitting around, I'm about to take a nap, and then we're going to decide whether or not to go out tonight. We have school tomorrow. Lame.
I need to work on making these blog entries shorter. However, anyone who cares enough to read this should know by now that I can babble on about nothing until someone finally tells me to shut up.
Until next time!
