Koblenz, interesting city if I do say so myself. I wasn't expecting much since I was mildly let down by Darmstadt, but I was pleasantly surprised. Jessica and I left from Mainz around noon, and got to Koblenz around 1. It was a decent trip, and thank God we took the RE so we didn't have to be stopping at all the towns between Mainz and Koblenz....that, my friends, is a pain. Anyways, when we got off of the train, we immediately started out for the Deutsches Eck, the place where the Rhein and the Mosel Rives come together. In the process, we found St. Joseph's church, and went in. It was ok inside, but it's not my favorite. Then we proceeded down to the Rhein to walk along it towards the Deutsches Eck. As we walked, we noticed a large wall forming and realized that we were close to the Prince Elector's palace. We then took a detour from going to the Deutsches Eck to go visit the palace. It was really pretty. Big too! After throughly exploring that (and getting these weird stares from a woman who looked like a Nazi) we continued on our way to the Deutsches Eck. When we finally arrived, it was AWESOME! There's this huge statue of Wilhelm I on a horse, and there are flags of all of the states of Germany flying around the corner. You can go into the monument, which is also really cool, because it gives you a better look of the Deutsches Eck. After leaving the monument and the Deutsches Eck, we walked towards the Altstadt and encountered a coupla cool fountains as well as the Church of Virgin Mary. This Church, like the other, was not necessarily extremely decorated, but it was pretty nonetheless. After leaving there, Jessica and I walked back to the Hbf and took the next train home. All in all, it was a really fun day!
