India and Nepal 2022
Casa Julia Cafe Bar to Meson do Vento
This has been a fabulous day in lovely Spring weather in great Galician countryside and on the fourth day, I am beginning to get into the Camino spirit.
Very heavy low lying mist again was the view as I opened the blinds but I felt optimistic it would burn away during the morning.
First there was the small matter of the 'big hill' to climb over rising 350 meters in 3kms. There was a lovely stillness as I climbed and all I heard was my breathing and all I felt was the sweat pouring from my face.
At the top, a small group of familiar faces from previous day's came together and we met some local women who were happy to have their photograph taken.
On days like this, you notice and appreciate small things with many of your senses: the sound of birdsong, the smell of eucalyptus, the gentle breeze and rustling of leaves, the sight of a variety of green colours of ferns and trees.
As with previous Caminos, I left a shell from my local beach at the high point cruceiro - a simple gesture of leaving something in life behind and 'moving on'.
Just before the hotel for tonight which is a couple of kilometres off the Camino, Georg, Claudia and I stopped for a menu del dia - spaghetti bolognaise, bacalao (cod), postre, coffee and a cerveza for €9 a head. Great value!
