Rubiaes to Tui
The comedian Billy Connolly once famously said that' "there is no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing!". Today I seemed to be wearing the wrong things at the wrong times!
I either got wet from the rain wearing a shirt or wet from sweat when wearing waterproofs when the sun came out!
A gentle morning with a lunch stop for the famous Portuguese sandwich called francesinha, which consists of sausage, steak, bacon, ham, egg, cheese and gravy. I only had a third portion but it really is a gut buster.
In the late afternoon after visiting the walled town of Valenca, we walked across the border over the river bridge into Spain and the town of Tui. Viva Espana!
Three things strike you right away. Firstly, the clocks go forward one hour, secondly the language is different (obrigado becomes gracias!) and thirdly the lifestyle is very different. As the Portuguese would be going to bed at nine o'clock, the Spaniards are just arriving in town and the restaurants are opening!
Its good to to be back in Galicia again. Six days to Santiago from here.
