India and Nepal 2022
I was up early this morning for my lesson in milking Shankar's cow. It produces two litres each evening and three litres in the morning. As the golden ball of the sun rose across the road, I marvelled at this simple, hard, yet satisfying life here in the village. It was surprisingly easy to pull on the udders and for the milk to squirt into the bucket. An hour from now, it will have been boiled and ready for my breakfast. What a great way to start the day. My very helpful teacher colleague Prakash took me to two private schools this afternoon where I met the Principals, Head Teachers and a Chairperson of the Management Committee. It was very interesting to gain an insight into government and private sectors. I enjoyed speaking to the two Principals very much because they are wise and good men who are committed to improving the life chances of their pupils and students. I still can't get used to the Nepali calendar - the Head referred to the excellent class of 2069 and of a student born in 2057. Beam me up Scotty!
