Sunday : sunny
Today we are of to My Son pronounced (Me Sun) Vietnam's Largest temple site. So after a pancake fueled breaky, we hopped on our bus and went for a looksie.
Now I dislike these types of tours immensely, we had about 30-40 ppl in our group. Only one guide to show us around, and he had no control over the group. His voice was too quiet and could barely speak English. After he gave a quick spool there WAS NO GUIDE! He just said be back at bus at 11:30 and took off. lucky we heard that! We only just made the bus, there was no head count and then we were off. We also got dropped off nowhere near our hotel Piss poor effort really, should of hired a scooter again, and taken ourselves there. Would of been cheaper too.
I don't know maybe I am being too hasty, and just a little ticked off because the north face backpack that bought in Saigon broke. The god damn shoulder straps ripped off. It's been slowly unraveling every day since I bought the thing. I was kind off hoping that it would of lasted the trip though. Silly $10 pack perfect example of you get what you pay for. I knew I shouldn't of replaced old faithful, now I'm using a single strap duffel bag.
Back to the temples, they were fine. Amazing how they were built, and the detailed carvings to the stone work. Unfortunately quite a lot had been destroyed by the bombings, and over grown. Some of the structures were being braced by scaffolding. They have a very similar style to Cambodia's Angkor complex, but much much smaller. It was crowded to begin with but after awhile it seemed like we had the complex to ourselves to explore. Like I said could of done it better ourselves.
When we found where we were after being dropped off, we went to a lounge bar near our hotel for some cocktails and snacks to relax. Just in time too it started to bucket down. Then went for a swim back at the hotel's pool.
Once the weather cleared, it fined up into a nice afternoon. I went for a short stroll, then caught up on some business on the net.
Dinner time came round and went out out in search of a restaurant that did some of Hoi An's specialty dishes, that we have heard about. We didn't have to go far before we found one that did. The food and drinks were great, and happy we only spend around $10. We have not been eating cheap lately, to keep in short we ate fat noodles, dumplings and won tons, but with a Hoi An twist.
After dinner we arranged to meet up with the Dutch couple that we met our the easyrider tour, they arrived in Hoi An today. Before that though Kim and I bought these little toys that you shoot up into the night sky, and they float down back to you all lit up. They have LED lights and wings to help them float and glow, pretty good 50c amusement.
We went to a bar where they had happy hour for 8hrs for 2-10pm. I had a great time pretty sure Kim did too, plenty of laughs. It started to get late, so we decided to call it quits and went out onto the street and played with the flying toys we bought earlier.
While on the street we had a lot of people asking us to come to their club. Very busy, cheap drinks! We said our goodbyes to the Dutch, we may see them in Hong Kong in a few weeks. I Was glad to get to bed, was Pretty tired today another late night, early morning.
