Thursday: sunny
I hate alarms especially ones at 5:30, and wasn't the best sleep either Kim and I both had tummy aches for most of the night.
We hopped on a transfer bus which took us to the big bus, and I nearly couldn't find our tickets. Oops All good though found them and now time to try and get some shuteye.
HA! how wrong I was. Once you leave the towns and hit the highways there are trucks galore, and this bus driver was worse than the driver to Dalat. His horn was so much louder and he was using it constantly because he was constantly wanting to overtake. He actually enjoys using the horn he was smiling every time he used it.
(Tip) Do short bus trips or sleeper trains here in Vietnam. The honking on the bus and roads will drive anyone who isn't a local bonkers. We have stopped for a night in a beach town called Quy Nhon which is roughly halfway to our next stop Hoi An.
Quy Nhon is very nice, setup much like Nha Trang is but seems empty compared to Nha Trang. I went for a 4hr walked today while Kim rested her tummy, and saw only one tourist. I bought our bus tickets for tomorrow too.
I also got held up by three security fellas for a while until someone who spoke english could explain the situation. Apparently I walked into a government high security facility. Ha high security!! I followed a path around the side to try and get to this statue, but in doing so I walked into the backyard of the joint. Three guys came running out yelling at me haha! I just laughed.
Apart from that everyone else was giving me smiles and hellos, I got asked by two sets of parents to take photos of their kids. (Is that weird?) People wanting to shake my hand and find out where I am from, best of all I only got asked by 3 people if I wanted to buy something or need a scooter ride somewhere.. Big change.
There probably isn't as many things to do here as Nha Trang, it's more of just a few sights some bars/restaurants and a big empty beach. Except at 5pm when everyone finishes work then you see the whole town on the beach
It is good to break up the trip with another beach stop, and probably our last one for awhile. Until Spain or Greece...
Had a Couple drinks while the sun went down overlooking the bay. After that I just grabbed something quick to eat, Kim's tummy wasn't really up for anything.
Nothing planned for tomorrow except sitting and swimming at the beach across the road. Nice.
