Monday : overcast
We had a decent sleep, the sleeping bag we hired was very toasty. No more earthquakes overnight either. We got warm water dropped off at our door to wash our faces. Then we packed up and went down for breakfast. I had a couple of boiled eggs, very tasty.
We started walking around 8:30, we past through a few villages in the morning, and lots of brick homes had been damaged by the quake. There was even a huge cracks in the earth along the path.
Lunch was at the entry, to the national park. Pretty average tasting meal and menu too. But it filled the hole apparently the the walk gets harder from here.
We past lots of waterfalls, and walked across plenty of suspension bridges, from one side of the river and back again. A particularly nice part of the walk was when we dropped down and walked along the river for awhile. It's a very dangerous looking river, it flows very fast and is full of boulders. Would not like to fall in that's for sure.
It was another slow paced walk today, which was fine, but we are still stopping too much. Not to keen with running into the back of people. The clouds were annoying too the hole walk today we were suppose to be surrounded by 6000m plus mountains and our first sight of Everest. Boo.
The end of the walk today, was pretty much a climb of 600m plus straight up for a couple hours. It was pretty easy with the pace that was set.
We arrived in a village called Namche and that's where we are staying the next two nights, we got shown our rooms and then had some limited free time to jump on the net before dinner.
Had another beef stew tonight, a DVD got put on and it was a doco on climbing Everest. It looks intense, very difficult looking climb. It's takes 2-3 months to acclimatize on the mountain before you can even attempt to reach the summit. As well as all your previous climbing to get the experience levels up. Don't forget the 60 to 120 grand it cost too. Some people attempt Everest with no climbing under there belt too which just seemed ridiculous.
After the movie we went back to the room for some tea, to try a calm my cough down.
Not a bad lodge this, very warm and quite.
