Thursday : overcast
Another bad sleep, but we awoke to views of 6000m plus high, snowy mountains. So that made up for the lack of sleep.
Before breaky Kim and I just hung outside in the fresh air looking up, and taking photos and drinking tea. After a nak cheese omelet. We started our walk.
It was an awesome morning walk. The clouds were there, but they were high above the mountains. It was cool walking around through villages with these giant peaks surrounding us.
The low clouds eventually came through the valley though, and then the mountains disappeared again. The walk started off by making our way down out of Khunjung 500m down to the river. My feet felt good in the new shoes first real downhill test. We crossed the river using another suspension bridge, then we climbed 600m up the other side to Tengboche 3876m high. The walk up was the usual slow paced with plenty of stops. Except my nose did not stop running for the whole three hour climb, which was a tad annoying. It was a very sweaty climb too, and the higher we climbed the cooler it got, x2 with the sweaty shirt
We arrived in Tengboche just before it started raining. We ordered our lunch, and we had some free time before it would be ready. We got our room keys, then went for a walk around the town with Jordan and a couple other fellas, (Tim & Michael). Pretty small town the biggest thing is the monastery, which we will visit later. There are a couple shops, lodges and a bakery, that's about it.
We go back to the hotel as lunch was being served. Afterwards we went into the monastery, the monks were doing their chanting and we got to watch. I fell asleep for a couple mins, very mesmerizing. I was pretty tied today, yawned for most of the walk.
Back at the hotel we ordered our dinner, and yippee more free time. Kim and I hung out in the room for a bit, then we went downstairs and played some cards. After dinner we played more cards then went to bed.
I thought today was going to be the big walk but it's actually tomorrow, hopefully get a good sleep.
