A Year Away
Yes, yes, yes. I know. I always come back here to Panajachel. What can I say? I just love it here!
After Tikal I went back to Coban for a day before taking that 5 hour bus trip back to the capital. That day in Coban was fun though, because I stayed at the same hostel as before and hung out with some of the people that I met there. I also took a tour of the coffee plantation there, La Finca Santa Margarita. Even though I don{t drink coffee, it was still interesting. And also, fun fact, it{s one of the farms owned by Starbucks.
Then I climbed up 130 stairs, more or less, to a little church on the hill overlooking the city. I didn{t reallize how close Coban was to nature. It feels like a pretty big city on the inside, but looking at it from above, it{s just a little group of buildings with forest creeping in from all sides. It was quite pretty.
So the next day I took the 5 hour trip to Guate, then 3 more hours off to Panajachel, and here I am again. The people have changed a little, the street venders move around from city to city or change their location a bit, but it{s still the same place overall. I{ve already met more people and I{m back at my same hostel again. But I think I{m going to look for a little apartment where I can pay by the month. It{s almost half the price to pay by the month than it is to pay daily. As if it{s not cheap enough to pay 3 bucks a night, i have to pay 1.50. :) Anyways, I think I{ll stick around and try to get a job. I think there is work to be found if I get off my butt and look for it. My buddy Gustavo is also interested in finding a place cheap like that too, so I think today we{ll go apartment shopping. (Not to live together mom, geez, don{t freak out) ;)
So here I am, in Pana again, and looking for a job (kind of). If I stick around here, I probably won{t have to much to post, as I{m not off adventuring and such. But no worries. Drop me a line any time.
I hope everyone is doing well in the states, take care all!--->Natalie
